چکیده

In this paper, the evaluation of the characteristics of a new type rotating eddy-current probe for nondestructive Eddy-Current Testing (ECT) is carried out using 3-D edge-based FEM. The changes of the induced electromotive force are monitored for various inner and outer types of thin cracks inside the metal plate. It was veri ed that although the intensity of the signal obtained by this new type of probe is smaller than the conventional ones, the shape of the signal and especially its trace could be very useful for detection of the shape, direction and depths of thin cracks and aws inside thin conducting materials.

Spatial detection of ferromagnetic wires using GMR sensor and based on shape induced anisotropy

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new technique for row spacing measurement in a wire array using giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensor. The self-rectifying property of the GMR-based probes leads to accurately detection of the magnetic field fluctuations caused by surface-breaking cracks in conductive materials, shape-induced magnetic anisotropy, etc. The ability to manufacture probes h...

Automated Analysis of Eddy Current Signals in Steam Generator Tube Inspection

Accurate and consistent determination of flawed regions in steam generator tubing is becoming increasingly important as nuclear power plants age and repair costs increase. The general problem of assessing the structural integrity of steam generator tubing using eddy current inspection is rather complex due to the presence of noise and interference signals under different inspection conditions. ...

An Eddy Current Testing Platform System for Pipe Defect Inspection Based on an Optimized Eddy Current Technique Probe Design

The use of the eddy current technique (ECT) for the non-destructive testing of conducting materials has become increasingly important in the past few years. The use of the non-destructive ECT plays a key role in the ensuring the safety and integrity of the large industrial structures such as oil and gas pipelines. This paper introduce a novel ECT probe design integrated with the distributed ECT...

Design of Nondestructive System for Hardness of Carbonitrided Steel Parts ‎Using Eddy Current Testing Method: Case study on the Tappet Parts

In this paper, a non-destructive eddy current test system was designed to evaluate the surface hardness of the carbonitrided steel parts. For this purpose, various samples of the tappet were used after the surface hardening and grinding operations as control samples and, if necessary, were subjected to destructive and non-destructive tests. Microstructural studies were performed with a microsco...

Surface Profiling and Core Evaluation of Aluminum Honeycomb Sandwich Aircraft Panels Using Multi-Frequency Eddy Current Testing

Surface damage on honeycomb aircraft panels is often measured manually, and is therefore subject to variation based on inspection personnel. Eddy current testing (ECT) is sensitive to variations in probe-to-specimen spacing, or lift-off, and is thus promising for high-resolution profiling of surface damage on aluminum panels. Lower frequency testing also allows inspection through the face sheet...
